Grants in Action - Public Speaking Program
This year's first public speaking competition will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 8:45 in the Woodstock Middle School cafeteria. Four times each year, students in grades 5-8 prepare pieces and compete in one of six categories: Impromptu, Storytelling, Poetry, Persuasive, Expository, and Dramatic and Humorous. Public Speaking, one of the most popular programs at WMS with approximately 70 students participating, is made possible through a grant funded by the Woodstock Education Foundation.
The 8th annual “Starlight Gala” will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Mansion at Bald Hill Event Center and promises to be a spectacular evening! The Gala is one of the WEF’s primary fundraising events, and it relies on monies raised to fund teacher-initiated grants throughout the school year. Guests can bid on many live and silent auction items, including original artwork created by 3rd and 4th grade art classes.
Tickets can be purchased at www.woodstockeducationfoundation.org. The WEF is grateful to all who have purchased tickets or made a donation to the WEF, with special thanks to our 2019 Starlight Gala Donors.
The Woodstock Foundation has a series of eight pewter holiday ornaments depicting scenes from rural Woodstock, CT for sale: East Woodstock Congregational Church, Chamberlin Mill, First Congregational Church, Palmer Memorial Hall, Quasset School, Woodstock Academy, Roseland Cottage, and the Woodstock Fair. The Woodstock Education Foundation invites you to continue to support our efforts as we work to fund the arts and educational programs in Woodstock Public Schools. We CAN make a difference! As 2019 quickly comes to a close, we ask you to consider a year-end tax-deductible donation to the WEF.
